Baby Pull Toys In Color – Part 2

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator from Joshua,TX.

Today, I’d like to share with you two cards that I created using the *NEW 2021-2023 In Colors* and the Baby Pull Toys Stamp Set. These cards are the little boy versions of the little girl cards that I shared the other day.

Elephants are adorable but when I think of boys “The lion sleeps tonight” definitely comes to mind and so I really wanted to share something just a touch different with these cards.

For my first card my Color Combination was Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent and Cinnamon Cider.

Much like the girl cards, I did use the Stampin’ Blend Markers to create the stripes and color the images in.

I added the Evening Evergreen Ribbon and Jewels. The scalloped square and the “It’s a Boy” sentiment are Soft Succulent Ink and Cardstock.

For my next card my Color Combination was Pale Papaya, Old Olive and Cinnamon Cider.

I again decided to mix it up again with this card and use the Stampin’ Write Markers to create the background.

Instead of using the new In Color Ribbon and Jewels, I decided to pull out some retiring favorites with the Cinnamon Cider Ribbon and 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots.

Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope you’ve enjoyed these card samples and will join me again soon for another edition. Until next time – Happy Stampin’ Everyone!!

The days are counting down for our Last Chance Sale. The sale will end on May 3rd so don’t forget to grab plenty of your favorites before they disappear forever.

Baby Pull Toys In Color – Part 1

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator from Joshua,TX.

Today, I’d like to share with you two cards that I created using Stampin’ Up’s new 2021-2023 In Colors and the Baby Pull Toys Stamp Set along with a few other goodies from the new Annual Catalog and a couple of goodies retiring soon.

The first card I’d like to share with you is Polished Pink. My Color Combination for this card is:

Polished Pink, Blushing Bride and Gray Granite.

The Cardbase is Polished Pink Cardstock. It’s our standard A2 Cardbase.

If there’s something that I’ve truly found joy in lately, it’s creating my own DSP. Using a ruler and Stampin’ Write Markers, I hand drew those lines in Polished Pink, Blushing Bride and Gray Granite.

I used the Layering Squares Dies (because sadly they’re retiring and leaving us) to die cut a square in Basic White Cardstock and a scalloped square in Blushing Bride.

I stamped the elephant image and the hearts image and hand colored them with the Stampin’ Blend Markers in Light Gray Granite and both Light and Dark Polished Pink.

I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of Basic White Cardstock in Polished Pink Ink and used the Pick A Banner Punch.

I added the Polished Pink Ribbon and Jewels just for effect.

Everything is adhered down with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Mini Glue Dots and Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Here’s a great debate. NEVER in a million years would I have EVER thought that my husband would chose something pink over purple – but he did. Me, personally, I chose the next card I’m about to share with you as my favorite and I really need y’alls help settling the great debate. Ya’ll can help me settle it by just simply leaving a comment on the Blog letting us know which one you like better.

The Color Combination used for this card is Fresh Freesia, Soft Sea Foam and Gray Granite.

Although the Cards are similar there was a difference between the two. For the Custom DSP, I used the Stampin’ Blend Markers instead of the Stampin’ Write Markers.

*TIP*

Whether you decide to use the Stampin’ Write Markers or the Stampin’ Blend Markers make sure that you allow the ink to dry fully and clean your ruler off frequently. Try to use different sections of the ruler for each color.

*Discussion Continued*

Instead of doing diagonal stripes, I decided to do almost a plaid effect with the background.

I’m sure that whoever receives either of these beautiful cards will appreciate them. I mean, who really isn’t in love with these new beautiful In Colors already?!

Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope that you’ve enjoyed these cards and will join me again soon for another edition.

Until next time – Happy Stampin Everyone!!

Etched In Nature

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator from Joshua,TX.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Due to quality issues as of 04/09/2021, Stampin’ Up has pulled and put in NOT ORDERABLE status the Etched In Nature Stamp Set Item #155463 on page 101 of the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. A very special thank you to the Stampin’ Up team for recognizing that this is not a quality item that should be presented to Customers. I’ve decided to share this blog post regardless of quality issues in the event that Stampin’ Up is able to figure out the root cause of these issues and able to resolve them over the next year and able to remove this item from not orderable status.

I experienced quality issues (as did MANY other Demonstrators) using the Etched In Nature Stamp Set and where a majority of the missed stamping and lack of detail is covered if you look closely at the background stamping you can see that there are definitely issues. It actually took me three consecutive days and starting over many times to be able to come up with something that worked for me and that I could be proud enough to present at OnTour. I think it’ll be pretty clear as you continue to read this Blog as to what those issues were and anyone who’s a die hard Stampin’ Up fan (such as myself) will know that some of the things that I write about in the Blog are not “normal” for a Stampin’ Up product.

I also wanted to publish this for those who have received your Catalogs and seeing the Stamp Set for the first time and are excited about ordering it in hopes that seeing and reading will help you understand Stampin’ Up’s reasoning behind it and not being blindsided by Stampin’ Up’s decision. I can assure you that Stampin’ Up will do everything in their power to resolve this issue. I will update you as updates become available but just know that it could take months.

Today, I’d like to share with you a card I created using the new *Etched In Nature Stamp Set* that will be available to Customers on May 4th upon the release of Stampin’ Up’s 2021-2022 Annual Catalog.

This is my project that I created for the OnTour Event that I attended virtually on April the 10th.

My Color Combination for this card is Soft Succulent, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and Pool Party.

*Measurements*

Cardbase 4 1//4″x11″ scored at 5 1/2″

Matte Base Soft Suede 4″x5 1/4″

Mount Base 3 3/4″x 5″

Label 1/4″ x 3″ (trimmed down)

*Supply List*

Etched In Nature Stamp Set

Layering Circles Dies

*Cardstock*

Soft Succulent Cardstock

Soft Suede Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Momento Black Ink

Soft Suede Ink

*Stampin’ Blends*

Light and Dark Soft Succulent

Light and Dark Soft Suede

Light and Dark Crumb Cake

Light and Dark Pool Party

*Adhesives*

Multipurpose Liquid Glue

Stampin’ Dimensionals

Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals

Mini Glue Dots

*Other Useful Tools and Supplies*

Stamparatus

Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine

Banners Pick A Punch

Gilded Gems

Take Your Pick Tool

Ruler

*Instructions*

I started with loading a scrap of Basic White Cardstock into the Stamparatus and stamping the bird image from the Etched in Nature Stamp Set in Momento Black Ink.

*TIP*

You will NOT get the full detail of the stamp using the clear blocks. Also, our traditional “tap” method in the ink will not work with this stamp set. Instead of using the “tap method” rub the ink pad over the image. You will get a much cleaner and crisper image by doing this using the stamp set. Tutorial video coming soon so stay tuned!

*Instructions Continued*

I used the the largest scalloped and straight edged dies from the Layering Circles Dies and die cut both the stamped bird image and the scalloped layer. I hand colored the bird using the Stampin’ Blend Markers listed above. I added a highlight around the bird using the Pool Party Blends. I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere them together and set them aside.

On the 3 3/4″x5″ piece of Basic White Cardstock, I used a ruler and the Stampin’ Blend Markers to create my own designer series paper. I allowed it to dry and loaded into the Stamparatus. I used the large “sprig-ish” type image in Soft Suede Ink and stamped it over my little created stripes.

*TIP*

Again, do not bother using the clear blocks or the “tap” method of inking. Save yourselves the time and headache and again load it into the Stamparatus and rub that ink pad all over that image and press down on the plate of the Stamparatus to get as much of that image as you possibly can. You will NOT get the full detail of the stamp by using the tap method and you will not get the full image of the “sprig-ish” thing without utilizing the Stamparatus and even it can miss a bit.

*Instructions Continued*

I used Multipurpose Liquid glue to adhere the Soft Suede Matte Base to the Soft Succulent Cardbase.

I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the Mount Base and adhered that to the top of the Matte Base.

I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the bird image with the scalloped edge to the Mount Base of the card.

I stamped the “Just For You” sentiment in Momento Black Ink on the strip of 1/4″x3″ Basic White Cardstock and snipped the end off leaving just enough to use the Banners Pick A Punch. I added a Mini Glue Dot to one end and a Stampin’ Mini Dimensional to the other end and adhered it down over the layered circles and Mount Base.

The finishing touches for this card was to add the gold gilded gems to the card using my Take Your Pick Tool.

Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope that you’ve enjoyed this tutorial and will join me again for another edition soon.

“So Cool” Alternates Paper Pumpkin April 2021

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin Up Independent Demonstrator from Joshua,TX.

Today, I’d like to share with you a few alternatives that I created with the April 2021 “So Cool” Paper Pumpkin Kit.

Initially in my live Facebook video, I created the cards as per the instructions in the kit. After the video ended I got busy with some of the ideas I had swirling in my head.

The first Alternate I just simply used some Stampin’ Seal and closed the completed Kit Card and added some Stampin Dimensionals to the back.

The Cardbase is Old Olive Cardstock measuring 4 1/4″×11″ and scored at 5 1/2″. I added a Basic Black Matte Base and some of the Sweet Ice Cream Designer Series Paper and then added just a few of the Black Matte Dots to the front to complete the card.

The second Alternate card that I created I used the watermelon image and stamped it randomly on a piece of Basic White Cardstock. I colored the watermelons with Poppy Parade and Just Jade Stampin’ Blend Markers.

The Cardbase is Just Jade Cardstock and then I added two Matte Bases one in Basic Black and the other is Poppy Parade.

I stamped the “so cool” sentiment in Just Jade Ink on one of the banners that came in the kit.

I added a piece of Real Red Satin Ribbon to the top of the watermelons using Stampin’ Seal Adhesive, added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the Glitter Rectangle that came in the kit and the banner and adhered them in place.

I used Stampin’ Seal Adhesive to glue the Matte Bases to the Cardbase but added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the watermelon piece.

The third Alternate that I’d like to share with you today is again just a standard A2 Cardbase in Old Olive, a Matte Base in Bermuda Bay Cardstock, 2 pieces of the Sweet Ice Cream DSP measuring 1 1/2″. I stamped the popsicle from the stamp set that came in the kit, hand colored it with the Stampin’ Blend Markers and flickered some Clear Wink of Stella over it.

I also added just a few of the Black Matte Dots to this project to complete it.

I stamped the “happy birthday” sentiment on the banner that came in the Kit in Old Olive Ink.

I adhered the Glitter Rectangle from the Kit down with Stampin Seal Adhesive and then added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the sentiment and the popsicle and secured in place.

I decided to mix it up and add just a few Artistry Blooms Sequins to give it that finishing touch.

For my final alternate project, I stamped the popsicles on a piece of Basic White Cardstock and colored them with the Stampin’ Blends.

I added the Banner and glitter rectangle to the front, and added Stampin’ Dimensionals to one of the stickers intended for the back of the envelopes and then added a bow to the front of the popsicle using the Bumblebee twine that came in the kit with Mini Glue Dots.

I attached the card front to the Blackberry Bliss with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then just added a few Artistry Blooms Sequins to give it that little finishing touch.

The possibilities are endless with the So Cool Kit but I hope that you’ve enjoyed all of the great alternates that I’ve shared with you today.

Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope you’ll join me again soon for another edition.

Well Suited Birthday Card

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator from Joshua, Texas.

Today, I’d like to share with you this fabulous fun fold card created with Stampin’ Up’s Well Suited Designer Series Papers and Twine Combo Pack along with just a couple extra goodies in my craft room.

The Color Combination that I’m using for today’s project is:

Smoky Slate, Night of Navy, Basic Gray and Basic White

Today’s card is really very basic, simple and easy to create. The cardbase is Night of Navy measuring 4″x10 1/2″ scored at 2 1/2″ and 5 1/2″

The Smoky Slate card front measures 4″x5 1’2″ and is adhered to the 2 1/2″ scored portion of the card with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

The DSP are literally just random sized scraps of paper that are glued to the card front with Stampin’ Seal Adhesive. The top layer of scraps are lifted up with Stampin’ Mini Dimensionals.

On a scrap of Basic White Cardstock, I stamped the “happy birthday” sentiment from the Happy Thoughts Stamp Set and punched it out using the Tailored Tag Punch.

I tied a double bow using the Well Suited Twine Combo Pack and adhered it to the stamped, punched sentiment with Mini Glue Dots and added a Black Matte Dot just because.

Starter Kits

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin Up Independent Demonstrator from Joshua,TX.

Do you love to create? Do you love Stampin’ Up products as much as I do? Do you want to save HUGE on these products we love?

If the answer is “YES” to any of these questions than Stampin’ Up has something for you.

Stampin’ Up has just announced this morning the Join+ Promotion.

There’s NEVER a bad time to join this great Stampin’ community. Beginning May 4th when you join Stampin Up you will receive:

$155.00 worth of product of your choice for $99.00, FREE shipping on your Starter Kit PLUS a few business supplies, FREE catalogs AND 20% Savings on all future orders from Stampin’ Up.

I know I’ve shared my story before but anytime there’s an offer like this, I can’t help but to share it again.

I was a Stampin’ Up Customer for five years before becoming a Demonstrator. Not because I wasn’t offered or aware of these big promotions but just simply because I was hesitant and stubborn. It was literally one of the scariest steps I’d ever taken.

There were so many “what ifs” that ran through my head. Finally, my husband said to me, “Ya know babe, you’ll never know until you try.” I knew he was right and decision was made.

I signed on as a hobbyist, just simply to enjoy the discount and make Cards and Creations for my family and friends. I’m still here after almost 3 years, still creating, inspiring and sharing what I love.

I share this story with a purpose. I’d like to reach others who are hesitant, fearful, unsure, skeptical, stubborn. I want you to know that it is OKAY!!!! And that it’s been such an incredible journey.

I’m part of an incredible team and I’m learning from one of the absolute BEST not only here in the United States but in the world!

One of the biggest questions that I had before signing up was, “How do I know if Stampin’ Up is right for me?” The answer is actually a very simple one. If you’ve spent $100.00 or more in my online store or plan on spending $100.00 or more on Stampin Up products in the future – then Stampin’ Up is right for you.

The other daunting thought I had in the beginning was, “There are so many other very talented crafters out there.” I been involved in many other crafts all my life but up until 7 years ago, I’d never touched a Stamp Set in my life! I discovered very quickly that once upon a time ago – those extremely talented ladies started off just like I did – 20-30 years earlier. I didn’t feel so bad after that.

My point is that whether you’re a beginner, intermediate or avid stamper, there’s something here for everyone.

I’m so incredibly happy to be where I’m at and my only regret now is not joining sooner.

I started working at building this as a business quite some time ago and I’m really proud to announce that I’m going to be a vendor at a local craft show for the second time this May.

I would absolutely love to be able to teach someone everything that I’ve learned over the last few years.

Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope that you’ll join me again soon for another edition and consider joining my Team and giving it a try.

Until next time – Happy Stampin Everyone!!

Stampin’ Up Color Challenge

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator from Joshua,TX.

Today, I’d like to share with you a card that I created for the monthly #SUColorChallenge using the *Wrapped Bouquet Bundle*

I’ve been participating in the #SUCOLORCHALLENGE for a few months now and I do have to tell you – I look forward to this challenge every single month. It’s been a great way for me to step out of my comfort zone and try different things. It almost becomes a countdown at the end of the month and definitely a curiosity as to what might be planned for the following month. It’s just a fun thing to look forward to and participate in each month.

This month’s colors are:

For this month’s challenge I chose to use the Wrapped Bouquet Bundle. I love this Bundle and have used it in past projects. I think because it does bring back some fond memories of days long past.

How many of my followers remember buying or receiving flowers wrapped in newspaper? I think it was in the early 90’s when it converted to brown paper. For a while, it was a mix around our small town. About half were wrapped in newspaper while the other half were wrapped in brown paper before fully being replaced with cellophane in the late 90’s-early 2000’s. I’m going to Shhhh now because I’m really giving away my age.

The other sentimental thing about the Wrapped Bouquet Bundle is that my father in law started his career tossing newspapers as a kid on a bike and ultimately ended up repairing press machines and traveling all over the country to repair them for more than 30 years and although now retired still does a little freelance work from time to time. So although this is a Mother’s Day card, I’m sure that when my father in law sees it, he’ll get the biggest kick out of it.

*Instructions*

I started by stamping Pretty Peacock Ink in Basic White Cardstock and die cutting them out.

I colored the flowers in Merry Merlot and Real Red Stampin’ Write Markers.

I die cut a piece of Basic White Cardstock and stamped both sides in Basic Gray Ink with the newspaper image and folded along the score lines to create the newspaper adhering it down in places with Mini Glue Dots. I also used Mini Glue Dots to adhere the bouquet to the newspaper.

I used one of the silver heart embellishments and the dark Mango Melody Stampin’ Blend marker to turn the heart gold. I tied a piece of Linen Thread around the newspaper and made a bow. I attached the heart embellishment as I tied the bow. To make sure that the Linen Thread and the Heart Embellishment wasn’t going anywhere, I added two Mini Glue Dots it. I placed one on the back of the newspaper and one under the knot of the bow.

I die cut the label from the Hippo dies and stamped it in Pretty Peacock Ink.

I die cut the leaves and other flourishes in Basic Gray. This may seem like an odd choice but when I looked at other choices for this project I thought it was my best option.
