Tribute to the Troops

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin Up Independent Demonstrator from Joshua,TX.

Before I share my project with you today there’s a very important announcement that I need to make.

It’s with heavy heart that I announce that Scrapbooking for Less has permanently suspended their operation for Cards for the Troops effective this year. The organization made their announcement last month as their family struggles through some sort of difficulty.

That was hard news to receive as Cards for the Troops has become my tradition for the last ten years. At this time, I’d like to thank Scrapbooking for Less for their years of dedication to Cards for the Troops and offer them our thoughts and prayers for whatever it is that they’re going through and send them well wishes for a blessed future.

As sad as the news was to receive, there was NO way I was going to give up this tradition that means so much to so many. It was a scramble but I did find another organization with many of the same guidelines as Cards for the Troops had.

In honor of this great tradition, from this day forward, regardless of which organization I design and create them for, they will from this day forward will be referred to as “Tribute to the Troops” instead.

I’m proud to present my specially designed and created for the 2021 Tribute to the Troops project featuring the NEW *Knit Together Bundle and Delivering Cheer Stamp Set* from the July-December Mini Catalog.

Today’s project was totally inspired by a Christmas sweater that my youngest son had when he was about two years old. When I saw the Knit Together Bundle it brought back so many memories!!

Make A Difference 2021

As part of Jamie Albanese’s Heart of Stampin’ Up! Award project, we’re supporting the annual Back to School Bash for James Storehouse—an amazing organization located in California, USA that provides resources to children in foster care and those aging-out of foster care.

Stampin’ Up! will donate backpacks and school supplies and we invite demonstrators to join the fun! There are two ways to support Jamie’s project for James Storehouse. SU Color Challenge

Today’s Color Challenge project features the brand new *Textures & Frames Stamp Set* from the upcoming Sale-a-bration Catalog and the the brand new *In Your Words Stamp Set* which is not only an up and coming Sale-a-bration item but is also the *Host Stamp Set* for the upcoming Sale-a-bration Promotion.

As many already know any sort of Stamp Set that has textures in particular are my kind of Stamp Sets. I absolutely love stamping my own backgrounds to create simple and quick cards with an element of elegance to them as well.

The sentiments from the In Your Words Stamp Set just cracked me up. There’s also a super cute “Happy Birthday” sentiment that’s stamped on the inside of the card.

August “Hope Box” Paper Pumpkin Kit

United Through Creativity

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin Up Independent Demonstrator from Joshua,TX.

Today, I’d like to share with you Cards that I created with the FREE PDF for #WorldDiversityDay. It feels amazing to be participating in this amazing worldwide celebration with the #UnitedThroughCreativity PDF.

There are 14 pages on the free PDF so it’s going to take quite a bit of time to do them all but I thought I’d share with you just a few that I’ve created so far.

This card holds very special meaning to me as I have friends and family members with a wide variety of disabilities so it means A LOT to me that Stampin’ Up included a disabled individual in this PDF.

For this card I used the Stitched Rectangle Dies to die cut the image, hand colored with the Stampin’ Blend Markers, trimmed the sentiment with my Stampin’ Trimmer and added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the backs of both the image and sentiment and adhered down on a Highland Heather Cardbase. I added 3 Artistry Blooms Sequins next to the sentiment and created a blank inside Cardbase for what I plan to include a heartfelt message to my friends. I will definitely be re-printing this image to do more.

My second sample I couldn’t help but to turn into a card for one of my Canadian friends. That maple leaf is just the best! I fussy cut the maple leaf with a pair of Paper Snips and hand colored it with the Light and Dark Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blend Markers. I added Sheet adhesive to the back of a scrap piece of Poppy Parade Cardstock and die cut the “Oh Canada” sentiment using the Playful Alphabet Dies and added them to a strip of Basic White Cardstock. I added a decent sized strip of Basic White Cardstock to the front of Poppy Parade Cardbase with Stampin’ Seal Adhesive and added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the maple leaf and then added Stampin’ Seal to the “Oh Canada” to adhere in place.

I made this card on Victoria Day but I’m going to mail it to my friend the end of June in celebration of Canada Day. I know she’s going to love it!!!

This card is going in my reserved pile until I find the right person to gift it to. I just used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut the image and sentiment. I hand colored the image with Stampin’ Blends, added a little Stampin’ Seal to the back of the sentiment, added some Blackberry Bliss Ribbon, added some Stampin’ Dimensionals and added it to the front of the image. I added Stampin’ Seal Adhesive to the image and adhered it directly onto a Blackberry Bliss Cardbase. I added a few of the Artistry Blooms Sequins to the front just to take away some of the empty space.
