Stampin’ Up Color Challenge

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator from Joshua, TX.

Today, I’d like to share with you a project that I created using the *Borders To Backgrounds Stamp Set* along with a few other goodies for the #SUColorChallenge.

The colors for this month’s Challenge are:

I couldn’t think of a better color to use for this Challenge as we get ready to say goodbye to our beloved Seaside Spray.

Seaside Spray is one of our five In Colors that will be retiring in May. The other colors that we’ll have to be terribly sad to go are Rococo Rose, Pretty Peacock, Terracotta Tile and Purple Posy.

We already know that once Purple Posy retires due to the quality issues of the ink that it’ll sadly be gone forever but I really do hope that we’ll see Seaside Spray again in the future.

*Instructions*

On the Basic White Cardstock I stamped the lines from the Borders To Backgrounds Stamp Set in Seaside Spray, Daffodil Delight and Garden Green.

I attached the ribbon to the back using Stampin’ Seal Adhesive and attached the Matte Bases to the Cardbase using the Stampin’ Seal.

I stamped a scrap of Basic White Cardstock with the “hip hip horray” sentiment from the Best Year Stamp Set in Momento Black Ink and die cut it using the Stitched So Sweetly dies and added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back and adhered it in place.

This was a simple but cute card that could easily be used for birthdays, baby showers, graduations or any other occasion where “Congratulations” may be in order.

Stay tuned for more with this card. I just had a few more ideas using this exact same layout.

Thank you for joining me today. I hope that you’ll join me again soon for another edition. If you’re located in the United States and seeking to purchase these awesome Stampin’ Up Products or Join a Team, please visit http://www.stampinup.com and select me as a Demonstrator. My zip code is 76058.

Springtime Joy Fun Fold Card

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride and the Team Stamp It Blog Hop. The theme of our hop this month is Spring.

Today, I’d like to share with a couple of cards that I created featuring the Springtime Joy Stamp Set.

The first card (left) was made using Rococo Rose and the second card (right) was made using Purple Posy. My first card was supposed to be a sample card that I kind of botched in a few different ways but there’s still a few elements that I had in my head that came out right that didn’t come out quite right in my second card. Sometimes art isn’t without imperfections. We’ll get back to those in a bit.

Primarily, my tutorial today will be using the Purple Posy card as it’s closer to what I was really trying to obtain.

*Supply List*

Springtime Joy Stamp Set

Purple Posy Cardstock

Very Vanilla Cardstock

Momento Black Ink

Highland Heather Classic Ink Pad

2019-2021 In Color 6Γ—6 DSP

Neutrals 6Γ—6 DSP

Small Blooms Punch

Classic Label Punch

Basic Rhinestone Jewels

Purple Posy Scalloped Linen Ribbon

Stampin’ Seal Adhesive

Mini Glue Dots

Stampin’ Dimensionals

Multipurpose Liquid Glue

*Stampin’ Blend Markers*

Light and Dark Purple Posy

Light Gray Granite

Light Old Olive

Light Petal Pink

*Measurements*

Purple Posy Cardstock 4 1/4″Γ—11″ scored at 5 1/2″ trimmed off at 3″

Very Vanilla Cardstock 2 1/2″Γ—3 3/4″

Very Vanilla Cardstock 4″Γ—5 1/4″

In Color DSP 2 3/4″Γ—4″ and 2 1/4″Γ—4″

*Instructions*

I stamped the lamb image in Momento Black ink and highlighted her in light Gray Granite Stampin’ Blend and added a little character to her cheeks with light Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend. I colored her flower headdress with dark and light Purple Posy Stampin’ Blends and colored the leaves with the light Old Olive Stampin’ Blend.

*Imperfection #1*

When I did the Rococo Rose card, I tried using Light and Dark Smoky Slate and just simply didn’t like it. I felt that it was too dark. I also didn’t like using the Dark Petal Pink for the cheeks. I tried using the color lifter to soften it and of course it smeared just a tiny bit out of the lines.

*Instructions Continued*

I flipped my lamb over and added just a small line of Stampin’ Seal to the back, added my ribbon and tied a knot.

*Imperfection #2*

This is where I felt my Rococo Rose Sample Card was just a smidge better. I really did like that Petal Pink Knot Bow better.

*Instructions Continued*

Using the 3″ piece that I cut off the end of my Cardbase, I glued the 2 3/4″Γ—4″ DSP (I used the piece with the circles) to it using Stampin’ Seal Adhesive. I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the stamped “lamb” image an added it to the top of the DSP.

I also used Stampin’ Seal Adhesive to glue down the 2 1/4″Γ—4″ Woodgrain DSP.

*Imperfection #3*

When I made the sample card I was totally going to use the Rococo Rose woodgrain but I totally goofed! Opps! I ended up with two sets of dots instead!

*Instructions Continued*

Once I got the all of the DSP’s glued down, I used a touch of Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the left side of the lamb piece and adhered it to the woodgrain piece.

I stamped the “welcome spring” sentiment on a scrap piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock and punched it out using the Classic Label Punch. I secured the sentiment using Mini Glue Dots.

I punched three flowers using the small blooms punch from Gray Granite DSP. I curled the flowers up and secured them in place using Mini Glue Dots and added Basic Rhinestone Jewels to the centers and just a couple more randomly to the front of the card.

Now that the outside of our card is complete, I wanted to do something a touch special for the inside cardbases.

I stamped the flowers in Momento Black Ink and colored them in with light and dark Purple Posy and light Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. I also stamped the butterfly image in Momento Black.

I wanted to leave the butterfly images blank because I felt like it would just be too much. They’re basically there just to add a touch of interest to the project.

I stamped the inside sentiment in Highland Heather and adhered the inside Cardbase with Stampin’ Seal Adhesive.

*Imperfection #4*

I adhered the inside Cardbase of my Rococo Rose Cardbase just a touch off. I managed to gently lift it but not before wrinkling it all up. I will likely remake the Rococo Rose card at a later date.

At this time, I’d like to congratulate the winner of last month’s Blog Hop:

Springtime Joy Beach Bag

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator.

*Personal Notes*

Thank you for being patient with me as we endured the worst snow storm in Texas history. Thankfully, Elsa has returned to Aarondale and is banished for LIFE in Texas. We love you northerners but how ya’ll tolerate that on a regular basis, we’re not sure.

As I’m still a bit shell shocked over what’s occurred in my state over the last week, I’m also WAY behind in my craft room as I’ve been unable to work in there due to the extreme cold. There may be continued radio silence over the next couple of weeks as I work to get caught up and get ahead of the game again. Rest assured the radio silence will not be for nothing. I appreciate your continued understanding, patience and support during this time.

All in all, we were extremely BLESSED through these storms and ask that you continue to pray for our state and for the MANY family and friends who are grieving losses of all types during this time.

After last week’s fiasco, I thought I’d warm things up with a spring project using the *Springtime Joy Stamp Set* and just a handful of things out of the Annual Catalog.

By the end of February or beginning of March, Texans begin making our plans, pulling out our flip flops and beach bags and heading to the beach! From that point on, our beach bags do not get put up until some time after Labor Day.

*Stampin’ Reminder*

Very soon Stampin’ Up will announce the retirement list for the 2020 Annual Catalog and we will be saying goodbye to our five 2018-2020 In Colors. Those colors are Rococo Rose, Terracotta Tile, Seaside Spray, Pretty Peacock and Purple Posy. Once Stampin’ Up announces this list, the In Color supplies will sell put VERY quickly so it’s always a good time to stock up any any Cardstock, Designer Series Papers, Ribbons, Embellishments, Ink Refills or any other items you may need or want while the supply is ample.

Sadly, due to the quality issues Stampin’ Up experienced with the Purple Posy and the inability to correct it’s issue, the probability of it’s return won’t happen. Although the Purple Posy Ink Pad and Refill Bottle have long been retired, ink in the Purple Posy Stampin’ Write Markers and Stampin’ Blend Alcohol Markers has remained in tact.

As sad as it is to say goodbye to Retiring Products it’s also a time of great excitement to see what’s coming next.

Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope you’ll join me again soon for another edition. Until next time – Happy Stampin’ Everyone!

Sweet Strawberry Stampin’ Update

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator.

Today, I’d like to share with you some news that Stampin’ Up passed down to us this morning. As you may have seen the Sweet Strawberry Bundle (Stamp Set and Strwberry Builder Punch) are very popular and have sold above and beyond expectations putting this Bundle in “not orderable” status.

We learned this morning that the Sweet Strawberry Bundle will continue to be in unavailable status for quite a bit longer but will carryover into the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog!!! This will allow Stampin’ Up to increase manufacturing efforts to ensure that everyone who wants this high demand item can get it once it comes out of unavailable status.

This will also guarantee that the Sweet Strawberry Bundle will be available for a full additional year. An additional 365 days to create and share beautiful projects using this super cute Bundle.

If this item is still on your wishlist and you’ve been concerned that it would retire before you could order it, please breathe a sigh of relief that it’s not going to happen with this one. I have been there, done that and know how incredibly frustrating it can be. Rest assured, Stampin’ Up has heard your voice and is stepping up in a major way.

In the meantime, while we anxiously await we really do have a lot of great things that are going to happen with the Butterfly Gala Pre-Release featuring a Bundle that will be available in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog with 6Γ—6 Special Edition Paper Pack that will NOT be available in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog and this month’s Paper Pumpkin Kit featuring *THREE* reusable stencils.

Thank you so much for joining me this morning. I hope that you’re as happy and excited as I was to hear this great news. Until next time – Happy Stampin’ Everyone!

Embrace Each Moment

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator.

Today, I’d like to share with you a card that I created for my husband for Valentine’s Day using the *Embrace Each Moment Stamp Set* and a handful of other Stampin’ Up products from both the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog and the January-June Mini Catalog.

Yes, I know that Valentine’s Day is just a little bit behind us but this same could easily be created for weddings, anniversaries or just to tell a special someone that you love and care about them. And of course, I wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise for my love.

Many times we kind of forget that there are so many great items in the Annual Catalog and sometimes gets a little lost between the two mini catalogs. I think that this is a great example on how items from the Annual Catalog can be combined with items from the Mini Catalog. I will indicate which items came from each Catalog with either AC (Annual Catalog) or JJ (January-June Mini Catalog) with the exception of our Ink, Stampin’ Blends, Cardstock and Adhesives as these are always listed in our Annual Catalog.

*Supplies*

Embrace Each Moment Stamp Set (AC)

Ornate Layers Dies (AC)

Love You Always Foil Sheets (JJ)

Love You Always Designer Series Specialty Paper (JJ)

Blushing Bride Ribbon (JJ)

Champagne Rhinestones (AC)

Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine

*Cardstock*

Basic White Cardstock

Sahara Sand Cardstock

*Stampin’ Blend Markers*

Light and Dark Crumb Cake

Light and Dark Soft Suede

Light and Dark Calypso Coral

Light and Dark Cinnamon Cider

Light and Dark Pool Party

Ivory

*Adhesives*

Multipurpose Liquid Glue

Stampin’ Seal Adhesive

I hope that you’ve enjoyed this card and that you’ll join me again soon for another edition. Until next time – Happy Stampin’ Everyone!

Delays…

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator.

I posted earlier on my Facebook Business Page but I realized that not all of my followers are on Facebook so I wanted to post on WordPress as well.

Due to the historic weather we are experiencing here in Texas beginning February 20th-February 26th there will definitely be in a lag in posts. It is just simply too frigid cold to be in my craft room at this time. I will be returning (hopefully next week) to the craft room as soon as possible.

I thank you for your understanding during this time and ask that you keep the State of Texas in your thoughts and prayers!! The situation down here is NOT good. Many of our family and friends have been without power for about 72 hours now and there’s no guarantee as to when things will be back to normal for us.
