Assembly Line

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up! Independent Demonstrator from Joshua,TX.

I’ve often been asked how I make multiple cards of the same design and I’ve always described in my videos as an “assembly line” but I’ve never truly shown my assembly line on my videos or Blog so I’d like to share that with you today.

“Assembly line” doesn’t mean that I have a machine that simply puts everything together for me.

After I was rested just a little bit and was able to hobble back into my craft room, I started the assembly line to finish the cards I’d prepped for the video. It would take 3 more rest breaks but at the end of the night, all 10 cards that I’d prepped for the Peaceful Deer Catds were complete.

The first thing that I do to create an “assembly line” is that I will go through and do all of the cuts that I need to create multiples of one design.

For cardbases, I usually do all the cutting and scoring. Then I’ll go through and cut all the DSP I will need. Then all my die cutting and or punching that I’ll need. Inside cardbases are no exception. The very last thing that I’ll do is my stamping and again, I do all of the stamping at once.

Finally, I line all of the pieces up on my desk. Yesterday’s tri fold card for example. Here’s a photo of the assembly line that I created in order to create multiple cards for family and friends.

Assembly is a bit different on video VS assembly line when the cameras are off. In video, I will assemble one card, each piece at a time. With the assembly line I will actually complete a full task on each card before moving on to the next task. For example I will adhere all of the strips of DSP to each of the cardbases before creating the belly bands, attach all of the deer to the circles before attaching them to the belly bands.

DSP Piece 1 assembled to cardbases
DSP Piece 2 assembled to all cardbases
All belly bands and circles assembled
Finished stack of 10 cards

What I’ve found in working in “assembly line” is that it’s both faster and more efficient when working on multiple cards at once. With that being said, it’s VERY rare that you’ll find any more than 10 cards of mine in the same design which is why you do not seeing me in a whole lot of swaps. I can do more but I’m absolutely miserable doing it.

With that in mind, I also send hundreds of Christmas cards per year which is why my Blog ends up blowing UP each year with inspirational ideas usually beginning in July. Between my break in July and my injury in August, I’m really behind and need to get caught up – quickly!!!

I hope that you’ve enjoyed finally seeing my “assembly line” and what it’s like in the craft room when the cameras aren’t rolling and that you’ll join me again soon for another edition. Until next time – Happy Stampin’ Everyone!!

Tribute to the Troops 2

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride and our monthly Team Stamp It Blog Hop. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up! Independent Demonstrator from Joshua,TX. This month the theme for our Hop is Christmas In July!!

Today’s card has a great amount of meaning aside from it’s simplicity as this is set 2 that will be going out to service men and women away from their family and friends this holiday season. This is my 10th year participating in Tribute to the Troops and it’s been a great honor and true privilege.

Aside from it’s very simple appearance, there are actually 4 Stamp Sets used to create this project and it’s a beautiful combination of both brand new products from the July-December Mini Catalog as well as a couple carryover favorites.

*Instructions*

The Cardbase is our standard A2 Cardbase measuring 4 1/4″x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″ I cut a 2″ piece of the Peaceful Prints DSP and adhered it to the front of the card using Stampin’ Seal adhesive and stamped the snowflake images in Momento Black Ink using the Snowflake Wishes Stamp Set. I stamped the “Merry Christmas” sentiment in Real Red Classic Ink using the Holly Jolly Wishes Stamp Set.

The inside card base is a bit more complex with using the “with gratitude” and “from our family” sentiments from the Heartfelt Wishes Stamp Set in both Momento Black and Real Red Inks. I also added a partial stamp of the Christmas tree image from the Delivering Cheer Stamp Set in Evening Evergreen Ink. The inside Cardbase is our standard 4″ x 5 1/4″ in Basic White Cardstock.

Each card does have a handwritten message from me thanking each and every service member for their dedication to our country with thoughts of a safe return home in the new year.

Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope that you’ll continue to “hop” along with all of the other very talented ladies on our team and will join me again soon for another edition. Until next time – Happy Stampin’ Everyone!

Back To School – Tax Free Weekend Information

Good afternoon and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up! Independent Demonstrator from Joshua, Texas.

Today, I’d like to share with you the information that’s been passed down to us directly from Stampin’ Up! regarding the 2021 Tax Free Weekends.

Eleven states will be offering a sales tax holiday for school supplies during the months of July or August. Products that are eligible according to the statute include “items normally used by students in a standard classroom for educational purposes.” To see the names of participating states, products exempted from tax, and sales tax holiday dates, click here.

Please note that you must place your order with Stampin’ Up! during the tax holiday period in order to receive these items tax-free (which is midnight on the first day to midnight on the last day of the tax holiday). Also, keep in mind that this is a state sales tax holiday; the state statute may not apply to county, city, and special jurisdiction taxes.

If you have customers who live in states who benefit from the sales tax holiday (yay!), be sure to give them a call and let them know.

Note: Georgia, Louisiana, and Wisconsin have suspended the sales tax holiday for this year.

If your state is one of the very lucky states that will be having their tax free weekend mid and end of July, please consider shopping for James Schoolhouse (our Heart of Stampin’ Up! Award Winner) and sending in just a few extra supplies to get those foster kids ready to go back to school! Together, we can Make A Difference!

Thank you so much for joining me. I hope that you’ll join me soon again for another edition. Until next time – Happy Stampin’ Everyone!

Craft For A Cause

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up! Independent Demonstrator from Joshua,TX.

Today, I’d like to share with you a card that fully has a purpose!!! It’s my special design for the Heart of Stampin’ Up Award – Make A Difference project for James Schoolhouse’s Back To School Bash.

Today’s project features a little bit of both up and coming product in combination with a touch of some retired product as well. I just couldn’t resist sending kids back to school without an apple and what a great way to turn something old into something new. If you still have this in your craft stash – break it back out and play along! If you do not own this I am terribly sorry that you missed it but maybe you can find it second hand online for a reasonable price or create a similar project using our many wonderful products for example instead of an apple maybe using our Sweet Strawberry Punch.

UPDATE: Etched In Nature Stamp Set

Good evening and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up! Independent Demonstrator from Joshua,TX.

Tonight I’d like to provide an update directly from Stampin’ Up! regarding quality issues with the Etched In Nature Stamp Set found on page 101 of the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog.

Stampin Up made this announcement today.

After final review, it has been decided that because the Etched in Nature Stamp Set (item 155463) performs below expectation, it will not be reactivated. Although this stamp set will remain printed on page 101 of the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog, it will not be available to order during the catalog period. We’re sad to see this one go, but it’s important that our products perform to expectation. Thank you for your patience as we’ve completed our review.

As terribly disappointing and saddening as this to receive this type of news, I would like to thank the Stampin’ Up! team who worked to try to resolve these quality issues and for their decision to permanently suspend the Etched In Nature Stamp Set. I’m thankful to be with a company who’ll stand behind only putting out the BEST quality products on the market.

Thank you so much for joining me tonight. I hope you’ll join me again soon for another edition. Until next time – Happy Stampin’ Everyone!!

Tribute to the Troops

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin Up Independent Demonstrator from Joshua,TX.

Before I share my project with you today there’s a very important announcement that I need to make.

It’s with heavy heart that I announce that Scrapbooking for Less has permanently suspended their operation for Cards for the Troops effective this year. The organization made their announcement last month as their family struggles through some sort of difficulty.

That was hard news to receive as Cards for the Troops has become my tradition for the last ten years. At this time, I’d like to thank Scrapbooking for Less for their years of dedication to Cards for the Troops and offer them our thoughts and prayers for whatever it is that they’re going through and send them well wishes for a blessed future.

As sad as the news was to receive, there was NO way I was going to give up this tradition that means so much to so many. It was a scramble but I did find another organization with many of the same guidelines as Cards for the Troops had.

In honor of this great tradition, from this day forward, regardless of which organization I design and create them for, they will from this day forward will be referred to as “Tribute to the Troops” instead.

I’m proud to present my specially designed and created for the 2021 Tribute to the Troops project featuring the NEW *Knit Together Bundle and Delivering Cheer Stamp Set* from the July-December Mini Catalog.

Today’s project was totally inspired by a Christmas sweater that my youngest son had when he was about two years old. When I saw the Knit Together Bundle it brought back so many memories!!
