Stampin’ Up! Color Challenge

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator.

Today, I’d like to share with you a card I created with the *NEW* Simply Succulents Bundle from our new 2021 January-June Mini Catalog while accepting participating in the #SUColorChallenge

This month’s Color Challenge is using the Colors Pacific Point, Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana and Daffodil Delight.

I couldn’t think of a better Bundle to accept this challenge with than the Simply Succulents Bundle. Succulents are so incredibly beautiful and the bursts of color in them were just a perfect way to incorporate these colors with.

For this challenge I wanted to keep Pacific Point as an accent color as it is a much deeper and darker color than the other colors in the challenge but it definitely made it’s presence known.

*Supply List*

Simply Succulents Bundle

Pacific Point Classic Ink Pad

Coastal Cabana Classic Ink Pad

Granny Apple Green Classic Ink Pad

Basic White Cardstock

Coastal Cabana Cardstock

Daffodil Delight Cardstock

Granny Apple Green Cardstock

Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend Markers

Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blend Markers

Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blend Markers

Pacific Point Stampin’ Write Markers

Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Write Markers

Pool Party Sheer Ribbon

Blending Brushes

*NOTES*

I would’ve LOVED to have been able to use Stampin’ Blend Alcohol Markers throughout this project however; not all of the colors in the challenge are available in our Stampin’ Blend Markers so I really had to think about what and how I was going to pull this off and be very careful about how I was going to do this project. But it wouldn’t be called a “Challenge” without using a massive amount of brain power!!

In order to resolve this color challenge, I very purposefully and cautiously (and I can’t emphasize that cautiously enough) used both the Stampin’ Blend and Stampin’ Write Markers on this project.

*Instructions*

The first step was relatively easy. I die cut the intricate die from the Potted Succulents Dies and used it as a mask over the Basic White Cardstock as I showed before with the first card I shared using the Simply Succulents Bundle.

*NOTES AND TIPS*

Now, I’ve been absolutely dying to try the new Blending Brushes and this was the absolutely perfect opportunity. I gotta say, I absolutely LOVE them!! The handles are sturdy, the bristles are so soft that for a month now I’ve just been rubbing them across the skin on my hand and there were absolutely NO harsh lines making blending SO much smoother and easier than I’ve ever experienced!!!

One thing that you do not want to do is run them under water to rise the Ink out as it will take them forever to dry. I used a damp (but not overly saturated) Stamp Shammy and they dried very quickly.

*Instructions Continued*

My next step was to Stamp the large Succulents image in Monento Black ink and rotate using the Stampin’ Blend and Stampin’ Write Markers to color them in.

I used the Stampin’ Blends first and allowed them to dry completely before cautiously going in with the Stampin’ Write Markers.

I used the Potted Succulents Dies and my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine to die cut the stamped and colored Succulents, pot and other small pieces.

I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the pot and succulents but didn’t quite adhere them down right away. I added Mini Glue Dots to the aloe vera and other little flowery thingys and arranged them in place and then removed the paper backing from the pot and Succulents and adhered them in place.

I die cut the tag from the Potted Succulents Dies and stamped the “thanks” sentiment from the Simply Succulents Stamp Set. I added a Mini Glue Dot to one side and a Stampin’ Dimensional to the other end and secured it in place.

I used my Stampin’ Seal adhesive to glue the Daffodil Delight Matte Base to the Coastal Cabana Card Base and Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the masked layer with the pot and all the Succulents to the Matte Base.

*Final Touches*

For me, no card is truly complete without ribbon and/or some sort of additional embellishment. For this project, I added a small bow using the Pool Party Sheer Ribbon (Annual Catalog) and Basic Jewel Rhinestones.

Thank you so much for joining me today for this rather lengthy one. I hope you’ll join me again soon. Until next time – Happy Stampin’ Everyone!

Hey Chick/Birthday Chick Stamp Sets & Coordinating Products

Good evening and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season. Unfortunately, just before Christmas I ended up with the worst sinus infection I’ve ever had and am still on the recuperating end. Other than my own illness, everyone else in the house has remained healthy and we had a wonderful Christmas.

One of the things that I love about Stampin’ Up is their ability to shock and surprise us!

Today, Stampin’ Up announced the return of a Sale-a-bration item they offered in 2017 named “Hey Chick.” More exciting they will now be offered as a Bundle with coordinating Dies!!

Now when I first read this announcement today, I became a bit nervous. I sold off A LOT of stuff right before I became a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator and I wasn’t 100% sure if I’d sold the Hey Chick Stamp Set or not. It was enough for me to dart to my craft room, climb to the ceiling (literally) where I keep all of my retired products to check. To my delight, thankfully, there is was!! Whew!!!

Here’s just one sample of a card I made using the Hey Chick Stamp Set in 2017 for a friend!! I love these chickens!!! They’re just too stinking cute and I’m so happy that Stampin’ Up has brought them back!

Hey Chick Card

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, Stampin’ Up has also decided to add coordinating Dies to the *NEW* Happy Birthday Chick Stamp Set from the *NEW* January-June Mini Catalog.

These two stamp and die sets are adorable and will be precious to use together.

These Bundles/Coordinating Products will only be available for a limited time (January 5th-February 28th) and I can guarantee that they will sell quickly so please plan on adding them to your cart right away on January 5th.

Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope that you’ll join me again soon. Until next time – Happy Stampin’ Everyone!!

Simply Succulents Card

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up! Independent Demonstrator.

Today, I’d like to share with you a card I created using the Simply Succulents Bundle from the new January-June Mini Catalog.

Have you ever had one of those ideas that just wouldn’t go away until you sat down at your craft table or desk and just started crafting away just to see if it would work? This has been one of those projects.

Now if there’s anything that I truly love, it’s a collage card and it’s been a while since I’ve done one. And

Explaining how I got to the finished project could be just a tad difficult to explain but I’ll take it slow and try to explain it the best I can.

*Supply List*

Simply Succulents Bundle

Stampin’ Blend Markers

Pear Pizzazz Cardstock

Blushing Bride Cardstock

So Saffron Cardstock

Whisper White Cardstock

Stampin’ Write Markers

Granny Apple Green Classic Ink Pad

Pear Pizzazz Classic Ink Pad

Daffodil Delight Classic Ink Pad

So Saffron Classic Ink Pad

Blushing Bride Classic Ink Pad

Stampin’ Dimensionals

Mini Glue Dots

Multipurpose Liquid Glue

Sponge Daubers

*Measurements*

Pear Pizzazz Cardstock 4 1/4″×5 1/2″

So Saffron Cardstock 4″×5 1/4″

Blushing Bride Cardstock 3 3/4″×5″

Whisper White Cardstock 3 1/2″×4 3/4″

*Assembly Instructions*

The Potted Succulents Die Set has a beautiful, detailed die in it that creates almost a lattice effect when you run it through the die cutting machine.

What I ended up doing was using the lattice cut as a mask over another piece of Whisper White Cardstock and sponging over it in So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Pear Pizzazz and Blushing Bride Inks. Then removing the mask to reveal a beautifully sponged background. I’ve decided to save the lattice for another project coming very soon.

I hand stamped the pot and the large and small succulents in Momento Black Ink and hand colored them using Stampin’ Blend Alcohol Markers in Dark and Light Granny Apple Green, Dark and Light Daffodil Delight and Dark and Light Smoky Slate. For the center of the succulents, I allowed the alcohol to dry and colored them in with a Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write Marker.

I die cut the aloe vera out of a scrap of Pear Pizzazz Cardstock and the other little flowers (sorry – not sure what they’re called) out of Vellum.

I added dimension to the pot and the large Succulents up with Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhered the small Succulents, the aloe vera and the flowers down with Mini Glue Dots.

I stamped the sentiment in Momento Black Ink on a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock and die cut it using the label tag in the Potted Succulents Die Set. I put a Stampin’ Dimensional on one end of the sentiment and a Mini Glue Dot on the other end and adhered it in place.

As a finishing touch, I added just a few Champagne Rhinestones.

*PRIZE PATROL*

In celebration of the new Catalog launching soon I thought I’d do a little Prize Patrol. All you have to do is leave a comment on this Blog and you will be entered to win one of the brand new Darling Donkeys Stamp Sets! I will draw a winner on January 19th.

*Final Thoughts*

I’d never used the Stampin’ Blend Markers before this project. That’s not to say that I’ve never used other brands of alcohol markers available on the market. I’ve even taken a couple of classes. I really do favor the Stampin’ Blends over other market Alcohol Markers.

Thank you so much for joining me today for this small sneak peek as to what’s coming soon. I hope you’ll join me again soon. Until next time – Happy Stampin’ Everyone!

Whisper White Product Line

Good afternoon and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up! Independent Demonstrator.

Whisper White has been a Stampin’ Up! staple for so long. We love it and we know you love it, too. We are sad to announce that the supplier’s mill producing our Whisper White cardstock has permanently closed due to impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, we weren’t given much notice on this closure. This means that the technology unique to this particular supplier is now unavailable to us and we can no longer offer our Whisper White cardstock and related products, such as Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes. Please note that this won’t affect any of our other cardstocks, this only affects Whisper White.

We know Whisper White has a huge fan base; we’re big fans, too! And we are crushed that it’s going away. Even though this decision was out of our hands, rest assured that we jumped right into action to find the best replacement paper possible. We have dedicated many hours to source and test alternative cardstock options from several suppliers to find the perfect fit that still maintains the Stampin’ Up! quality you know and trust. We are happy to share that we have found a winner for our new cardstock, Basic White!

The quality of our new Basic White was thoroughly tested by our quality assurance and product teams. It also tested very well with demonstrators and concept artists who gave it a huge thumbs up. We believe in the quality of the new Basic White cardstock and we know it will become your new crafting staple!

What does this mean for you?

With Whisper White going out of production, this means a number of Whisper White products will be affected. We know preorder is a time for you to purchase new items to prepare for the upcoming months of your business so we wanted to give you this information before Whisper White products sell out and before all Basic White products are fully ready so you can include it in your business planning. Below is a list of all products that will be replaced with our new Basic White cardstock. These items are now available while supplies last with an order limit of 2 per item per order.

  • Whisper White 12″ x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) Cardstock (124302)
  • Assorted Memories & More Cards & Envelopes (149710)
  • Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes (131527)
  • Whisper White 3″ x 3″ (7.6 x 7.6 cm) Envelopes (145829)
  • Whisper White 8-1/2″ x 11″ Cardstock (100730)
  • Whisper White 8-1/2″ x 11″ Thick Cardstock (140272)
  • Whisper White Medium Envelopes (107301)

Our new Basic White products will become available to purchase as soon as we have them in stock. This means that some Whisper White and Basic White products may be available at the same time. Additionally, due to the nature of sourcing, some Basic White products may not be available before the Whisper White products sell out. Please know that we are working on getting these products available to you as fast as possible.

Since this change is outside our control, we haven’t been able to tackle all necessary alterations at once. You may still see the name Whisper White on some of our non-cardstock product labels, catalog, and marketing material for a while. We will be working on a rolling change to address this.

What does this mean for your customers?

While we expect this to come as quite a surprise, we hope that this transition to our new Basic White products can be an exciting change for everyone! To help soothe any nerves about this change, we want to provide as much information as possible to help you get the word out about our new Basic White cardstock.

We’ve created a printable flyer US | CA for your customers with all the new Basic White product information in one place. We recommend you print this out and put a copy of it with any catalogs you hand out so your customers can easily access the new ordering information for these products.

We also have a video message addressing some potential concerns that you and your customers may have. This video goes over a comparison of Whisper White to Basic White so you will know what to expect with this change. You can watch the video here. Please feel free to share this video with your customers.

It’s always hard to say goodbye, but we are excited about the new Basic White product line and we encourage you to try it out! We are confident that you’ll love it just as much as we do.

Until next time – Happy Stampin’ Everyone!
