April Paper Pumpkin Update

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin Up Independent Demonstrator from Joshua,TX.

Today, I’d like to give a final update for the April “So Cool” Paper Pumpkin Kit handed down to us from Stampin’ Up.

After extended shipping delays, billing for the April “So Cool” Paper Pumpkin Kit has resumed and will be complete by April 20th. All Kits will be mailed by April 23rd.

With that being said, Paper Pumpkin and Stampin’ Up have agreed to postpone their monthly unboxing video until April 26th. This will allow more time for both Demonstrators and Customers to receive their kit.

We all know this has been a huge disappointment and inconvenience for many and we can not apologize enough. We thank you and appreciate your patience, understanding and support during these insane times of COVID-19, port congestion and craziness.

Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope that you’ll join me again soon for another edition and that your “So Cool” Kit will arrive to you in lightning fast speed once it ships. Until next time – Happy Stampin Everyone!

Soar Confidently Card

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator from Joshua, TX.

Today I’d like to share with you a card that I created using the *Soar Confidently Stamp Set* and the *Sailing Home Stamp Set*

For this project I decided to use the following Coordinating Colors:

Time is really running out for our beloved Seaside Spray and so I decided to go ahead and publish this card as a loving tribute and in hopes and prayers of a return by popular demand. I have loved and enjoyed Seaside Spray so much and have used it in so many of my projects.

Originally, I was planning this as a Father’s Day Card for my husband and was planning on waiting until next month to publish but I really wanted to share this one a bit early as it’s a GREAT masculine card (yes – I’m a little bias – I have a husband and two sons) and so it really would make a fabulous masculine birthday card as well.

*Measurement Mishap*

Like a duh ta duh, I forgot to write the my exact measurements for this card down but that is okay. I enjoyed designing and creating this card so much that I will be using these techniques again on another card soon and I will make sure that I write the measurements down when I do it again. What I did though was started with our standard A2 Cardbase and worked my way down from there. I don’t do that very often but it’s always moments like these that get me every time.

*Instructions*

What can I say – I was excited and dying to try the new Stampin’ Up Blending Brushes which is exactly where I ended up starting. In the photo of the project, you will notice four strips of paper that are stamped and cut.

They didn’t exactly start off stamped or cut. It was the smallest layer of Very Vanilla cardstock. I started with the Seaside Spray Ink and just gently used the blending brushes over the Cardstock. Then I added the Misty Moonlight with the Blending Brushes and gradually combined the two colors.

Next I stamped the images from the Sailing Home Stamp Set in Soft Suede Ink. Finally I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut them into the four strips and set them aside.

I stamped the hot air balloon image on a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock in Memento Black Ink and used my Paper Snips to fussy cut it out.

I hand hand colored the hot air balloon using the Stampin’ Blend Markers.

On a long scrap of Very Vanilla I stamped the “wonderful man” sentiment in Soft Suede Ink and turned it over. Using Stampin’ Seal Adhesive to the top and bottom edges of the Very Vanilla and adhered the Early Espresso ribbon right into it and flipped it back over.

To adhere all of these layers together (with the exception of the hot air balloon itself) I used Multipurpose Glue. For the hot air balloon, I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back and adhered it down in place.

I’m not going to show the inside of this card because again, I made it for my husband and I don’t want to ruin the surprise for him. I actually try NOT to post them until after he receives them but sorry babe – no choice this time! I’ll probably end up making him a special one now and sending this one to either his Dad or his Stepdad now. And that’s okay too.

Thank you so much for joining me today – I hope that you’ll join me again soon for another edition.

Until next time – Happy Stampin’ Everyone!

Paper Pumpkin Delays

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator from Joshua,TX.

Lord, I don’t like to be the bearer of bad news but no choice – gotta get the info out there.

Stampin’ Up has had a delay in receiving their shipment of Kits from Paper Pumpkin. Stampin’ Up was hoping to receive them within a day or two but it’s looking more like next week. The delay is happening because Paper Pumpkin did not receive their die cuts and other elements from the “So Cool” kit in time.

You have not yet been billed for the April “So Cool” Kit nor has your Kit shipped quite yet. Stampin’ Up will provide an update as to when they’ll begin billing and shipping these Kits ASAP. I will share this information with you as soon as it becomes available.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Until next time – Happy Stampin everyone!

Important Updates

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator from Joshua,TX.

We received an important message from our CEO Sara Douglass this morning regarding an impact to our July-December Mini Catalog (formerly known as our Holiday Catalog) and our second Sale-a-bration Promotion.

Due to the global shipping issues caused directly from the Pandemic and port congestion, we will not receive our products for the July-December Mini Catalog or our product for our second Sale-a-bration Promotion in time for the launch.

The difficult decision has been made to postpone the launch of our July-December Mini Catalog and the second Sale-a-bration Promotion.

Stampin’ Up’s hopes behind this delay is not only allow additional time to receive our products but also to reduce the frustration of products not being available to both Demonstrators and Customers alike.

The July-December Mini Catalog details are now as follows:

Preorder: July 1-August 2

Customers: August 3-January 3, 2022

Sale-a-bration changes are as follows:

Pre-earn: July 1-August 2, 2021

Customer Earn: August 3-September 30, 2021

It is important to know that this is a pretty bittersweet blow to us as Demonstrators. Let me explain from my prospective as a Demonstrator.

For at least two years, we’ve worked very hard to transition these catalogs per Stampin’ Up’s request. We’ve build our Customers up in anticipation for the changes in future catalogs as to “not to confuse” Customers. Which is why today’s message was confusing. I honestly had to read over the email 2-3× before really sinking in. Although I’m sure that it was in part to receiving the message at 3:00 AM with not a drop of caffeine in my system.

I do however understand the port congestion situation and totally understand that it’s a real issue. I know that Sara and our incredible Stampin’ Up Headquarters Team did everything in their power to try to get these amazing products to us on time.

I don’t necessarily think that this is a bad thing. The preorder period for our 2021-2022 Annual Catalog is going on right now as I type and will not be available to Customers until May 4th.

There’s a HUGE opportunity for us here as Demonstrators. You see, we’re in the middle of our preorder period for the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog now. Our preorder is limited and so the majority of the products that we’d like to have we too won’t be able to order until May 4th.

Okay, so we get the majority of stuff the we plan on working with throughout the year in May. Then a month later (under “normal” catalog conditions) we would do our preorder for the July-December Mini Catalog.

That doesn’t leave much time for designing and planning; although many of us have found creative ways to combine items from the Mini Catalogs with the Annual Catalog. It’ll be great to have that additional month with the Annual Catalog items.

With that being said, I do understand the need to get a jumpstart on all of those holiday crafts. Especially Christmas Cards as I do Cards For The Troops each and every year. I will say that the Annual Catalog does have a pretty great selection of Christmas products available so especially with these announced delays, you may not want to thumb past that particular section of the Catalog because it’s “too soon for Christmas.”

Thank you for joining me today. In spite of unfortunate news, I hope that I’ve been able to give you at least a couple of ideas as to how sort of navigate through the shark infested waters of pandemic times and that you’ll join me again soon for another edition – Until next time – Happy Stampin everyone!!

2021-2023 In Colors

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator from Joshua, TX.

Today, I’d like to share with you information regarding Stampin’ Up’s new 2021-2023 In Color Collection.

William Shakespeare once wrote “parting is such sweet sorrow” for Romeo and Juliet and in Stampin’ Up world, that is so true. This year we will say our farewells to Terracotta Tile, Pretty Peacock, Seaside Spray, Purple Posy and Rococo Rose.

In that sorrow, we’re excited to proudly say *HELLO* to our new 2021-2023 In Colors:

2021-2023 In Colors

Now that we officially know what the new In Colors are, I’d like to just say a few words about each color.

With the sadness comes excitement to see that Stampin’ Up has brought in a new purple!! Fresh Freesia is a shade in between Purple Posy and Highland Heather. Stampin’ Up did not disappoint me with this decision!!

I’m not huge on pinks because of course I have no girls however; I actually REALLY like the new Polished Pink. The other part of that is that we already have SO many different pinks in the palette. I agree none like this one. It’s a lovely color and I’m looking forward to using it over the next couple of years.

I’m also excited to see Pale Papaya – a beautiful, soft, stunning shade of orange! Unlike our pink department, our orange palette was definitely lacking and it’s a breath of fresh air to see a orange shade!!

Speaking of loving – Soft Succulent indeed – This one is going to go perfectly with our Succulents Bundle. Sneaky little Sara put a new In Color right under our noses since January and we didn’t even know it. Just kidding Sara – you know we all loves you!!

Evening Evergreen – WOW!! This is an incredible color and not just for Christmas!! I’m REALLY looking forward to all of the combinations that I’ve seen so far and I look forward to sharing with my readers and family and friends soon.

For those who may not be familiar with Stampin’ Up’s In Color Collections, each year Stampin’ Up introduces us to five brand new colors separate from our Core Color Collection. These colors are designed to not only to be used together but to also be combined with other colors within our Core Color Collection. Each new set of In Colors stays with us for two years and retire when the two year period is up.

There are two sets of In Colors. In 2020, we were introduced to Magenta Madness, Just Jade, Bumblebee, Misty Moonlight and Cinnamon Cider. These colors will not retire until 2022. When they retire, Stampin’ Up will bring in five new In Colors to replace them.

I did say farewell and not “goodbye.” There’s ALWAYS a chance that Stampin’ Up could bring back any of our retired colors in the future so it’s always a good idea to hang onto those Retired In Colors because you never can tell when they could make a comeback!!

Of the colors that are retiring this year, I think that both Rococo Rose and Seaside Spray both have very good chances of returning one day. If Stampin’ Up gave me a choice between Rococo Rose and Seaside Spray though – I’m sorry – my bias house full of men says that #stampinup should #bringbackseasidespray.

Along with new Stamp Pads and of course refill bottles, Stampin’ Up releases a complete collection of Cardstock, Designer Series Papers, Ribbons, Embellishments, Stampin’ Write Markers and Stampin’ Blend Markers to coordinate with each In Color.

The full line of the In Color Collection is available right now to Demonstrators and will be available to Customers on May 4th. The full line of the In Color Collection is available to get in a Starter Kit if you’d like to sign up to be a Demonstrator. Kits are $126.00 worth of product of your choice for $99.00, free shipping and 20% savings on all future orders.

In coming weeks, I will begin to share projects using these new In Colors and showing them in different color combinations. For those who follow me on Facebook, I went live yesterday and showed several combinations of color that I think are fabulous. If you’re not part of my Facebook yet and missed it but would like to watch the replay, the link to my video is:

Until next time – Happy Stampin’ Everyone!
