Cards For The Troops 2020

Good morning and welcome to another very special edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator.

I know that the Blog has been silent for just a bit but the craft room has been exploding with busyness and I can not WAIT to share with you what I’ve been up to!!

Today, I would like to share with you a project that always has me super excited and holds special meaning in my life and in my heart.

Over the last 8 years, I’ve participated in a very special card drive called Cards For The Troops. All of the cards are homemade and specially designed for the men and women who are serving overseas during the holidays and can’t be home with their family, friends and loved ones. I’ve been with the same organization all 8 years and last year with combined efforts, more than 30,000 cards were sent.

I know it seems kind of crazy. I live in Texas, it’s a million and one degrees outside and wait a second – it’s only July! There’s a very good and reasonable explanation for that. I start this early (June) because I like to have a fair amount to be able to send and they’re due to the organization by the end of October/beginning of November. Starting them this early also ensures that I also have the time to do cards and other creations for family, friends, colleagues and coworkers.

Supply List:

Shaded Spruce Cardstock Item # 146981

Real Red Cardstock Item # 102482

Whisper White Cardstock Item # 100730

Gold Foil Item # 132622

Shaded Spruce Classic Ink Pad Item #147088

Best Year Bundle Item # 154104

Layering Circles Dies Item # 151770

Multipurpose Liquid Glue Item # 110755

*NEW* Adhesive Sheets Item # 152334

Stampin’ Dimensionals Item # 104430

Assembly Instructions:

I began with our standard A2 Cardbase in Shaded Spruce Cardstock.

I ran the Real Red Cardstock through my die cutting machine with the dies from the Best Year Bundle. I’m going to refer to the die cut Real Red Cardstock as Layer 1 for easier reference.

I cut the foil down to measure 4″×6″ and also cut the Adhesive Sheets down to 4″×6″ sections and placed it on the back of the Gold Foil Paper before placing the die from the Best Year Bundle to create Layer 2 and creating the plaid.

I used the Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere Layer 1 to the Shaded Spruce Cardstock, removed the paper from the Adhesive Sheets using my Take Your Pick Tool of Layer 2 and placed the Gold Foil directly over the top of Layer 1.

*NOTE* I had never used the Adhesive Sheets before. It took a little getting used to but Stampin’ Up can take ALL my money just for the convenience of NOT having to use the Multipurpose Liquid Glue on Layer 2. More to come later in Blog.

*TIP* I cut the Real Red Cardstock to 8 1/2″×5 1/2″ and used Paper Snips to trim the top to fit the A2 Cardbase and did the same to Layer 2 once it was adhered to Layer 1.

I cut the Whisper White Cardstock down (scraps work too) to 3″×3″ and stamped the “Warm Wishes” sentiment from the Best Year Stamp Set in Shaded Spruce Ink and die cut them using the the Layering Circles Dies. I also die cut the gold scallops using the same dies.

I added some interest to the project by adding Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the stamped sentiment and adhering them directly to the center of the gold scallop and used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the scallop directly to the front of the card.

I have a tendency of getting bored if I make anymore than 10 of the exact same card. After 10 I have to change it up. So that’s exactly what I did. Here are 4 more samples of Cards For The Troops of the cards that I made using the exact same supplies only in different colors.

With 10 of each of these designs already complete that’s 50 cards 100% complete and ready to be sent out to the troops in October and I’m not done yet!! My goal for 2020 is 150 cards!! Over the course of making these 50 cards, I ran out of the Adhesive Sheets and ended up having to use the Multipurpose Liquid Glue on Layer 2. Very thinly it does work/will work but it became very time consuming. I ordered more of the Adhesive Sheets immediately.

We’re nearing the very end of Bonus Days and the new Holiday Catalog will launch to Customers on August 1st. It’s a great time to stock up on what you need now and save for all that you want out of the new catalog and it’s also a GREAT time to become a Demonstrator so contact me today for more details or visit my website at:

His and Hers Hippo Happiness

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up! Independent Demonstrator. Today, I’d like to share with you two cards that I designed and created using the *NEW* Hippo Happiness Bundle with these his and hers cards featuring the *NEW* 2020-2021 In Colors.

For those who know me and know me well, I absolutely love the hippopotamus. From the time I was a little kid my absolute favorite part of visiting any zoo was seeing the hippos. I especially love that their vegetarians but will fiercely mess you up if you mess with their offspring. Kind of like…well…me.

I started off with the hippopotamus. It took me a little bit of time to figure out the color combination but finally found success in Crumb Cake and Smoky Slate Inks. I stamped their little faces in Momento Black and then die cut them using the Hippo and Friends Dies. Aren’t they just the cutest little stinkers ever?!

My Cardbase is our standard A2 measuring 4 1/4″×5 1/2″. The DSP is the *NEW* 2020-2022 In Color DSP measuring 2 1/2″. I used the *NEW* In Color Cardstock to die cut the labels and balloons from the Hippo and Friends Dies and Whisper White Cardstock to die cut the balloon streamers.

I adhered everything down with our *NEW* Stampin’ Seal, Mini Glue Dots, Stampin’ Diminsionals and Mini Stampin’ Diminsionals.

The “hip-hippo-horray” sentiment was stamped in the *NEW* Bumblebee Ink.

For the final touches, I added the *NEW* 2020-2022 Enamel Dots and *NEW* Just Jade In Color Ribbon.

This card came out so precious that I couldn’t help but to make ones for the little girls in my life too!!

Thank you so much for joining and reading along with me today. I hope you’ll join me again soon. Until then, Happy Stampin’ Everyone!

*INSTRUCTIONS*

I started off with our Standard A2 Cardbase in Misty Moonlight Cardstock.

I used the Best Plaid dies through my die cutting machine in Just Jade and Brass Foil sheets.

I adhered the Just Jade plaid layer to the Misty Moonlight Cardbase with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and layered the Brass plaid layer on the top of the Just Jade plaid layer with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

*NOTE*

The Best Plaid Dies are VERY large Dies and so I had to use my Paper Snips to fit them to the A2 Cardbase.

*TIP*

The Take Your Pick Tool with the Die Brush attachment was very helpful in removing all of those tiny pieces from the Best Plaid Dies.

*NOTE*

In substitution of the Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the Plaid Layers down and together, try our *NEW* Adhesive Sheets (Item #152334)

For the globe I die cut Just Jade (continents) Cardstock and Misty Moonlight (ocean water) Cardstock usind the World Map Dies and layered them together with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. I die cut the globe base from the World Map Dies using Brass Foil sheets and attached it to the bottom of the world with Mini Glue Dots.

Using a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock, I stamped the “To Me You Are the World” sentiment from the Best Year Stamp Set in Just Jade Ink. I die cut the sentiment using the Layering Circles Dies and also die cut a scrap of Just Jade Cardstock to create the scalloped layer.

I layered the stamped sentiment to the Just Jade scalloped layer with Stampin’ Seal and added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the Just Jade scallop and secured it to the front of the card. I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the globe and secured it in place.

*TIP*

Where the globe overlaps with the sentiment, I added a Mini Glue Dot to keep the card level.

I created a inside Cardbase and stamped the “Happy Father’s Day” sentiment using the Best Year Stamp Set in Misty Moonlight Ink and used Stampin’ Seal adhesive to secure it to the inside of the card.

Thank You so much for joining me today. I hope that you’ve enjoyed today’s tutorial and will join me again soon.

Old Goat Birthday Card

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin” Up! Independent Demonstrator.

This morning I’d like to share with you another card that I designed and created using the *NEW* Way To Goat Stamp Set. I just have to say that I absolutely LOVE the goats!! They’re so precious and from the moment I saw this one, I was flooded with ideas!! There’s no doubt that there will be many new projects using the goats this year!

There’s no doubt that some of us can get a little cranky around our birthdays, especially as we get older. I think it’s because as kids it’s fun and exciting and we’re all so full of life and then as we grow it just becomes another day as work and life catch up with us. Unfortunately, both me and my husband are both cranky “old” goats. He loves celebrating me and I love celebrating him but both of us would be happier to pull the covers back over our heads and just lounge in bed until the day is over. With that being said, even us “cranky old goats” would get a smile and a laugh at this card. And if we would love it, than surely it would make any cranky old goat’s day!

I started off with the “cranky goat” image from the Stamp set, Whisper White Cardstock and some Momento Black Ink. I die cut the image with the Layering Circles Dies. I die cut the scalloped circle in Smoky Slate Cardstock. I used Stampin’ Write Markers in Basic Gray and Smoky Slate and Blender Pens to color and highlight him.

The Cardbase is our standard A2 sized in Smoky Slate Cardstock. The matte layer is Whisper White Cardstock measuring 4″×5 1/4″ and is stamped with multiple images from the Way To Goat Stamp Set in Basic Gray, Gray Granite and Smoky Slate Inks. I kind of wanted to leave the impression that the goat absolutely had a reason to be cranky. I mean birthday lovers would be cranky if someone ate all their cake too right?

The most hilarious part of this card is the inside Cardbase that’s simply stamped with the “happy birthday you old goat” sentiment.

To finish this project, I simply tied a bow using the Gray Granite 1/4″ Shimmer Ribbon.

Thank you so much for joining me and reading along today. I hope you’ll join me again soon. Until then, Happy Stampin’ Everyone!!

My best friend owns quite a bit of property and raises goats so I couldn’t think of a better person to make a card for than her. She has other livestock as well but her goats are her favorites and I don’t blame her. They’re so funny and so cute that they’re truly irresistible.

I also work part time as a farmhand on a farm where there are goats and so I’ll also be making a batch of these for my coworkers who also adore our goats.

*A Note About This Project*

Little Elephant Invitations

Good afternoon and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up! Independent Demonstrator.

Today, I’d like to share with you these precious baby shower invitations that I made using the Elephant Builder Punch and the So Inviting Stamp Set.

Supply List:

So Inviting Stamp Set Item #151485

Elephant Builder Punch Item #14562

Layering Circles Dies Item #141705

Purple Posy Cardstock Item #150881

Highland Heather Cardstock Item #119683

I’m so sad to see the Pineapple Punch retire but I’m so happy to welcome the *NEW* Bumblebee In Color come. I think there are some truly great substitutes for Pineapple Punch as far as the Designer Series Papers.

This is really just a very simple design. I found myself in a predicament with Designer Series Paper in having enough to complete both invitations and Thank you cards so for the invitations I decided to go Note Card sized rather than our standard A2 size.

Measurements:

7″ x 5″ Purple Posy scored at 3 1/2″

3″ x 4 1/2″ Pineapple Punch Matte Base

2 1/2″ x 4″ Highland Heather Matte Base

2″ x 3 1/2″ DSP Purple Posy Matte Base

Final Assembly:

As in previous projects that I’ve done for this baby shower, I stamped, punched, die cut all of my pieces and assembled the exact same way.

I used Snail Adhesive to adhere the Purple Posy DSP to the Highland Heather and Pineapple Punch Cardstock. I used Mini Glue Dots to adhere the Pineapple Punch Ribbon to the back of the Pineapple Punch Cardstock and Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the Pineapple Punch Circle with the Little Elephant to the front of the invitations and the Pineapple Punch Matte Base to the Purple Posy Cardbase. I am currently awaiting more basic jewel rhinestones from Stampin’ Up to arrive to fill in a little bit of the empty space and just add those final little touches.

For the inside of the invitations, I used a piece of Whisper White Cardstock measuring 3″ x 4 1/2″ and the So Inviting Stamp Set and my Stamparatus (Item #146276) and Momento Black Ink for the Mommy-to-Be to add all of the details for her special day.

Thank you so much for joining me again today. I hope you’ll join me again soon.

Father’s Day Card

Stitched Nested Dies (Item # 149638)\

Word Wishes Dies (Item #149629)

Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder (Item #151811)

Country Club Designer Series Paper (Item #151314)

Stampin’ Spritzer (Item # 126185)

Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Item #110755)

Stampin’ Diminsionals (Item #104430)

Take Your Pick Tool (Item #144107)

Silicone Craft Sheet (Item #127853)

A Good Man Stamp Set (Item # 149270)

Final Assembly:

To assemble, I sort of bounced around a bit but please bare with me as it’ll all make sense as it comes together. As simplistic as this design was, it fought even me every step of the way. It’s not impossible but it was pretty challenging but I found some really great tips and tricks in it’s complication. Famous last words that I’ve learned the hard way as the idea popped in my head, “Oh yeah!! I’ll do that! It’ll be easy!” The sample card was no where near “easy” and it really took me a few shots on putting them together before finding a groove and finding simplistic ways to put this one together.

I started off by punching and die cutting all of the pieces to this card and our standard A2 Cardbase in Garden Green Cardstock.

I spritzed the Crushed Curry Cardstock with the Stampin’ Spritzer and ran the Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder through my die cutting/embossing machine and allowed the Cardstock to dry. Once dried, I adhered the embossed matte base to the Garden Green Cardbase.

I glued the DSP to the embossed Matte Base. I assembled the two Stitched Nested Dies together using Stampin’ Diminsionals and attached them to the DSP with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Once I got the Stitched Nested pieces in place on the DSP, I used Stampin’ Diminsionals to attach the Tailored Tag Punch piece to the Stutched Nested Dies and then adhered the “Happy” and “Day” sentiments to the Stitched Nested Dies with Multipurpose Liquid Glue

I used the sentiments from the A Good Man Stamp Set for the inside Cardbase.

Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope you’ll join me again for another edition soon. For all of the supplies needed to complete this project, please visit my website at:

Until next time, Have a blessed day and Happy Stampin’ Everyone!
