Hey Chick Easter Card

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Cards and Creations by Lori McBride and the Team Stamp It Blog Hop. The theme of our Hop this month is Easter. My name is Lori McBride and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator from Joshua, TX.

Today I’d like to share with you a card that I created using the *Hey Chick Bundle* along with just a few other goodies.

I adore the Hey Chick Bundle and I really couldn’t think of a better Bundle to use for an Easter card and I love adding character to the chickens by giving them multi colored hair. I really just had a lot of fun with this one and let the creativity behind it venture.

I also couldn’t think of a better tribute of goodbye to Purple Posy than using it on an Easter card. I have absolutely loved and adored it as an In Color the last couple of years despite the quality issues with the Ink Pad and Refill. I’m not holding onto hope that it’ll ever return. So the best send off that I can give her is to use as much of it as humanly possible and get it out of my stash so I’m not crying profusely upon it’s retirement. R.I.P. Purple Posy – my family and friends will certainly miss you!!

Enough with the rambling – let’s get to it!

*Instructions*

For this card I really wanted to keep it soft and subtle but I also wanted to throw in some neutrals to break it up some and have a bit of authenticity to the project itself.

As much as I love the chicken she wasn’t initially what sparked the idea behind the project. It was the stump, the sign and the eggs and specifically how to turn them into Easter eggs so I started by die cutting all of the pieces just using scraps of everything listed below with the exception of the In Good Taste DSP.

I recently learned an AMAZING tip and used my Stampin’ Write Markers to go over the embossed areas of the die cuts using the coordinating colors.

I stamped the “good egg” sentiment on the sign in Soft Suede Ink at the time I die cut it.

I decided to use the woodgrain DSP from the In Good Taste DSP in and die cut it using the largest of the Stitched Rectangle Dies.

On a decent sized scrap of Basic White Cardstock I used the All Wired Up Background Stamp and die cut it using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.

I gently ripped a scrap of Soft Sea Foam Cardstock and used the Soft Sea Foam Classic Ink Pad and the Borders To Backgrounds Stamp Set to add just a touch of texture.

Finally I stamped the chicken in Momento Black Ink and colored her using the Stampin’ Blend Markers listed below and die cut her out.

The Cardbase is Purple Posy Cardstock cut in half at 4 1/4″×11″ scored at 5 1/2″. I went ahead and attached the DSP and Stitched So Sweetly pieces to the Cardbase but I didn’t initially glue everything in place.

Instead, I placed everything in place and started by individually lifting and gluing each individual egg into place using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere down the stump and the sign and then used a combination of Mini Glue Dots and Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals for the egg sitting on top of the stump and the eggs at the bottom of the stump.

Finally, I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of my chicken and adhered her in place.

For the inside of this card, I stamped the “new beginnings” sentiment from the Springtime Joy Stamp Set and the Easter Basket image and colored them with the Stampin’ Blend Markers.

At this time, I’d like to Congratulate the winner of last month’s Blog Hop:
